PCO Guide is an unprecedented collaboration between shipping and ports communities

Delegates at IMO FAL 50 are invited to attend a very special lunchtime presentation hosted by the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and the IHMA - International Harbour Masters Association.

At lunchtime on Monday 23 March in the IMO’s main hall, attendees can learn about how ports and shipping have united to standardise port call data, advancing safe, efficient and sustainable berth‑to‑berth navigation.

Produced with the endorsement of 40 industry associations, the Port Call Optimization (PCO) Guide will be unveiled by Patrick Verhoeven (IAPH), Ben van Scherpenzeel (IHMA) and Ingrid Boqué Sastre (Port of Barcelona).

The PCO Guide represents an industry milestone, and an unprecedented collaboration between recognised IMO NGOs representing ports and shipping – a framework and accompanying guide that will standardise core port call data, advancing safe berth‑to‑berth navigation for all countries.

Leading member states and their port authorities have already piloted the IMO FAL compendium-compatible standards of the guide in port-to-port calls of container and tanker vessels as proofs of concept.

You are cordially invited to join Patrick, Ben and Ingrid at lunchtime on Monday 23 March in the International Maritime Organization’s Main Hall at around 12hrs30 local London time to learn about the definitive PCO guide for ports and shipping.
