The edition includes an exclusive interview with Christina Figueres

Offering thought leadership on the role of ports in a connected world

The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), in collaboration with IHS Markit, is delighted to offer its members a completely upgraded version of its membership magazine, with the first edition of 2021 incorporating a new look, with more opinion pieces, more debate with readers polls and features which foster discussion and thought leadership — not only among stakeholders within the ports’ sphere, but also from throughout the supply chain.

In the first edition for 2021, the main interview features insights into recent maritime and global affairs from the renowned leader on climate change and the architect of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement - Christina Figueres. The former Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change makes her opinions clear in a no-holds-barred exchange with IAPH's Managing Director Dr. Patrick Verhoeven.

The January-February edition also has features articles on how ports are dealing with sea level rise; global market intelligence analysis and a feature on Free Ports; how ports can support the evolution of the fashion Industry; a port anti-narcotics campaign with a difference; port architecture in the eyes of the community, ports as film set locations and a book review on applying UN SDGs in ports.

Ports & Harbors is the membership magazine of the IAPH. If you are interested in subscribing to the magazine or becoming a full member or associated member of the International Association of Ports and Harbors, you can visit our website or email us your contact details with a request for more information.

About IAPH

Founded in 1955, the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) is a non-profit-making global alliance of 170 ports and 140 port-related organisations covering 90 countries. Its member ports handle more than 60 percent of global maritime trade and around 80 percent of world container traffic. IAPH has consultative NGO status with several United Nations agencies, including the IMO. Through its knowledge base and access to regulatory bodies, IAPH aims to facilitate energy transition, accelerate digitalisation and assist in improving overall resilience of its member ports in a constantly changing world. In 2018, IAPH established the World Ports Sustainability Program (WPSP). Guided by the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, it aims to unite sustainability efforts of ports worldwide by sharing best practices through its project portfolio and collaborative partnerships.
